Aguas Blancas beach Ibiza

Aguas Blancas beach is an extensive and narrow stretch of sand, approximately three hundred metres long and twenty metres wide, located in the northern area of the island of Ibiza. In fact, although it seems like one large coast, it is actually several smaller beaches linked together. Numerous cliffs adorn Aguas Blancas. The most salient are called Escollos Negros and are found half a kilometer from the coast.

Anchored near this beach on board one of our spectacular Ibiza boat hire, you will enjoy incredible views of the island of Tagomago to the south and Punta Grossa to the north.

Another advantage of joining us on one of our yacht rental Ibiza is that we can follow the sun´s path. Although the beach is positioned in a way that the cliffs that surround it provide shade during the midday when the sun has risen, having the ability to easily change anchorages to one where the sun´s rays shine allows us to never miss a second of that warmth we came to Ibiza for.

This beach was given the name Aguas Blancas because of the foam that forms when the waves hit the cliff. It is considered to be the beach on the island of Ibiza with the most waves, which is due to its open sea and its exposure to the easterly winds that regularly occur during the summer months.

On the other hand, the slope of the cove is almost nonexistent. If we swim fifty metres out from the shore, we will find ourselves in waters of only two metres of depth.

Mud baths and nudity in Aguas Blancas

Aguas Blancas is one of the favorites among the residents of the island. Despite the difficult access by land when arriving, in the summer this beach is always filled with people enjoying the day. It is one of the few in Ibiza that have officially been declared a nudist beach.

Aside from the regular hammocks, umbrellas, restaurants and beach bars that you will see, you will also stumble upon people battered in clay.

Stumbling upon people battered in clay is far from unusual at the beach of Aguas Blancas.

After scraping the walls of the cliffs, they will mix the clay powder they extracted and mix this with water to create a mud said to “cleanse the skin”. It is usually left on the body for an estimated 20 minutes before diving into the sea and emerging as a new person.

Neighboring beach to Aguas Blancas

Following the coastline to the south, we will encounter the beach of Es Figueral. It is a sea entrance of more than three hundred metres in length and about forty metres width, much wider than its neighboring beach Aguas Blancas. Although the seafloor is sandy, there are some rocks that are perfect for snorkeling with the equipment provided on board our boat charter Ibiza.

Es Figueral is a beach with an abundance of wind and a dangerous slab. For this reason, along with others, we always recommend bringing a sailor on board who knows the seabed of Ibiza and Formentera well. Losa Figueral is a rock within the sea, thirty metres long by eighteen metres wide, that is known for breaking away in a north-south direction every so often. However, it has not been marked since 1996. It is best to avoid this rock and sail, in a north or south direction, midway between Tagomago Island and Punta Valls.
