Welcome to what will be an astounding catamaran trip with CharterAlia!!! We know this is a lengthy read, but it is very important that you fully understand all of the following instructions before you board your plane to Ibiza. Please share this link with the rest of your group as well so that everyone can be aware of what to expect. Thank you and see you VERY soon!!!
Before you head out… What to pack
- ONLY bring suitcases made of soft material. A sports bag or a gym bag is the perfect luggage. Please try not to bring hard covered suitcases or strollers. They take up tons of space on the boat and most of them will not fit through your cabin door. We have an office in front of the marina so, worst case scenario, you can always unpack your luggage and leave the empty suitcases at the office.
- Some summer days in Ibiza are not as hot as you may think, so please bring warm clothes just in case.
- We offer you shower towels. If you want beach towels, please pack them.
- Do not forget a pair of flip-flops. This is the only type of footwear allowed on board. Of course, you can always go barefoot. If you bring high heels or shoes with dark soles, you cannot use them on board.
- A minimum of two to three swimming suits, bikinis, etc.
- Sunglasses, bandanas, baseball caps, etc.
- Hygiene products: deodorant, brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
Arriving in Ibiza
Once you have landed in Ibiza, we recommend that you come to the boat. The best way to get to Cala Jondal from the airport is by taxi. A Taxi should cost approximately 15 to 25 Euros and will take around 10 to 15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Checking-in to the boat
Once you arrive at your new home for the next week, feel free to board the catamaran where we will need to complete the final paperwork, sign the charter agreement and settle your balance if it has not yet been paid.
Supermarket
Once all the paperwork has been sorted out, you may leave your luggage and go off to buy all the essentials necessary for your stay aboard our catamaran. You have the choice of purchasing your items at a nearby supermarket or buying them online in advance at tuhiper.com.
If you rather do your shopping in person, we usually advise our customers to go to Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, the closest town to Cala Jondal, where you’ll find supermarkets and convenience stores.
Shopping list
The following are some ideas on what you might need to bring for your stay on board. Some of our guests like to buy only snacks and breakfast items while others bring the entire market with them. Please keep in mind that the list varies depending on how many days you will stay on board and how you prefer to handle your meals.
- Shampoo and bath soap.
- Hand soap.
- Paper towels.
- Napkins
- Toilet Paper.
- Wet towels (wipes).
- Trash bags.
- Plastic bags with ties so that you can discard used toilet paper and used wipes.
- Mineral water: Calculate at least 2-3 litres per day per person
- All the food you are going to cook and eat.
- Paper cups, paper plates and plastic utensils (Our catamarans already come equipped with utensils, cups and plates for your use, but it is never a bad idea to buy disposable items in order to save water).
- Salt and Pepper.
- Olive oil.
- Bread and butter.
- Soft drinks, juice, etc.
It is important to take into account that our fridge space is limited. In addition to our medium sized electrical fridge, we also have an extra cool box, but it only works with ice. If we decide to use it, we need to buy ice almost every day. Normally, most groups don’t need to use the cooler. It depends on how many refrigerated groceries you buy.
Most beaches also have small mini markets where you can run in to buy some groceries that you may have forgotten to buy before embarking or that you may have run out of.
You will also find restaurants in every beach along the coast of Ibiza and Formentera, and our catamarans come equipped with a dinghy that your boat captain can use to disembark you as you wish for lunch, dinner or just a lovely stroll along the shore.
At the pharmacy
A few more items that we recommend you bring along to assure your comfort on board:
- Motion sickness pills. It is rare that you will need them but it is better to be safe than sorry!
- Lip balm (chapstick).
- Sunscreen.
While you are on board
- SAFETY COMES FIRST, so we ask that you please follow the rules on board. If there is anything you are unsure about, PLEASE ASK THE SKIPPER no matter what it may be. I will explain all the safety measures upon your arrival.
- Electricity: We will only have regular electricity (220V) when we are connected at the port. While we are sailing or anchored at sea, all boats have only 12V of electricity. This means that you will not be able to use laptops/220V chargers/hair driers, etc unless we are docked. What you will be able to use is the typical car 12V charger.
Bathroom use
While the catamaran is docked at the port, use of the bathrooms or showers on board is prohibited. During this time, you may use the club’s facilities at the port. Luckily, they are always clean and even contain hair driers. If needed, the captain will provide you with the key.
While sailing or at anchor, we can use the toilets on board. It is strictly forbidden to throw any toilet paper, wet towels, etc. in the toilet. If you do so, the toilet will immediately clog. Nothing can enter the toilet except, obviously, number one and number two.
Interior of Catamaran
Unless otherwise mentioned, the boat has 6 cabins with the following layout:
- 2 very small individual cabins at the bows (quite uncomfortable, better for storage use)
- 2 medium double cabins by the middle. The skipper will be using one of these.
- 2 amazing and large double cabins at the sterns.
Boat Inventory
Our rental catamarans come equipped with the following for our customers’ needs:
- Metal utensils, dishes, mugs and glasses.
- Pots, frying pans and saucepans.
- Bed Sheets.
- Blankets.
- Pillows.
- Pillow cases.
Skipper hours
- The skipper’s working hours are from 11:00 to 19:00. It is his choice to decide if he would like to work after hours. This includes all dinghy rides to the beach.
- Guests must take care of the maintenance for the skipper (and hostess when applicable). This means that the skipper will eat from what the guests bring on board. The skipper will always remain on board, even if the guests disembark for lunch.
I know reading all this can be quite overwhelming, but once you are here you will see that it is not so difficult!!
