Instructions and tips for the Ibiza best beaches catamaran excursion

Hello! If you are reading these words, it means that you have hired the catamaran sailing excursion around the best beaches in Ibiza. Congratulations! You are going to spend an unforgettable day aboard our beautiful catamaran. We will sail along some of the most spectacular beaches and islands of Ibiza and, if you wish, we will also stop for a beautiful sunset in front of Café del Mar that will give you goose bumps.

Sunsets from Cafe del Mar and Cafe Mambo are legendary in Ibiza.

First of all, I ask that you please share these instructions with all the members in the group. Surely you will have a group of WhatsApp or emails, so it would be ideal that everyone who will be on board the catamaran excursion read these tips.

I won’t waste any more of your time. Instead, I will leave you with a small list of instructions and tips that will give you an idea of what you can expect during your day of sailing and what things you can bring to the ship.

We set sail from San Antonio

The appointed day and time of your catamaran tour, you must go to San Antonio- a small city, mostly populated by British, on the west side of the island of Ibiza- which is certainly not the prettiest part of the island. However, the bay surrounding San Antonio, which is where we sail, is the most spectacular area of the island of Ibiza in terms of beaches, scenery and pure nature.

How to get to San Antonio?

From the city of Ibiza or its surroundings (Embossa, Figueretas, etc.), it will only take a 15 minute drive on a two-lane road with a few roundabouts.

  • There is a bus service (line 3) connecting Ibiza with San Antonio, round trip. It departs from the bus station in Ibiza every half hour and drops you off at the bus station in San Antonio. The bus takes about 25-30 minutes.
  • If you go by taxi, the average price is usually about 20-25 euros.
  • If you have rented a car, you should keep in mind that most of the downtown San Antonio area is blue zone- pay to park- so I recommend a parking lot.

Do not forget that the name and number of your skipper are written in the email you were sent before your outing. In case of any delay or mishap, I ask that you please inform the skipper.

Boarding the catamaran

Just before boarding the ship, the skipper will give you brief instructions (more instructions??? my goodness!) along with welcoming you aboard.

On the boat, we recommend you go barefoot or with socks. We will have a bag ready where you can leave your flip-flops and shoes.

The back terrace also offers a huge space to enjoy the boat ride.

The rear terrace also provides ample space to enjoy the boat ride.

Once aboard, you can leave your bags in the corner of the aft deck. There they will be safe without getting wet, they will not fall into the water and you can access them at all times.

Paperwork and payment of the outstanding balance

Once already settled on the boat, the skipper will call the group leader and provide them with the contract for the boat rental for them to read and sign, filling in the names of the holder of the contract and of all the occupants.

THE CONTRACT HOLDER MUST BRING THEIR DNI OR ORIGINAL PASSPORT. This is very important. You could also send a photo of the document, before the day of charter, by email to info@charteralia.com

Once the contract is signed, it is time to settle the outstanding amounts (if any). This second payment is always made in cash, so it is necessary that you bring this money prepared. Please keep in mind that we will only accept cash! 🙂

Once we have resolved the annoying but necessary paperwork and payment, it is time to set sail and let the fun begin!!! 🙂

Cala Conta beach Ibiza
It looks like a pool, but this is the actual transparent turquoise water of Cala Conta (Cala Compte) or Playas de Compte, the second stop on our tour of the best beaches in Ibiza.

Just before untying the ropes, we encourage you to make a quick visit to the clean and luxurious bathrooms of the yacht club, since we do not recommend using the WC we have on board the catamaran while sailing for your own safety. The bathrooms on board must only be used while the boat is anchored (except for emergencies, of course :-).

When renting a catamaran for day trips, the only section available to our customers is the outside of the boat, which is the best part. For your own safety, and to avoid dizziness, do not enter the catamaran unless you are going to use the toilet, and only while the boat is anchored. The exterior of the ship offers a total area of 80 m2, with the bow sundecks and the extensive trampoline and the entire aft deck and the dining table, a large space to accommodate the legal maximum allowed of 11 people in comfort and safety.

What to bring on board

I would advise you to take the following on board:

  • A towel.
  • Spare swimming suit.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Sunglasses.
  • A cap or hat or a bandana type head scarf. Keep in mind that large brimmed hats fly away very easily, so we recommend that you do not take them.
  • Warmer clothes with long sleeves, especially for cooler evenings, which usually occurs when there is wind.
  • And then do not forget everything that you would like to eat and drink during the day. If you bring snacks, drinks, ice, etc.
  • If you want, we can make reservations for you at any of the beach restaurants we will be passing by.
  • On the boat we have a portable plastic cool box to put the ice and all the drinks in.
Free speedboat service Calabassa Ibiza
During our first anchor drop at beautiful Calabassa, you can disembark for lunch or for a drink at the Calabassa Beach Club. They offer a free speedboat pick up service.

Will I get seasick on the boat?

It’s strange but sometimes someone in the group ends up getting seasick, so I advise you to take a box of Dramamine with caffeine for the whole group. Those who know they are prone to motion sickness by car or bus should take the Dramamine pill as a preventative half an hour before boarding.

Smoking on board the catamaran

In addition to the fuel tanks of the ship, we carry a gas tank in the Zodiac, which hangs from davits on the back of the boat, and another small backup gas tank in the outboard motor, which is next to the stairs located port side of the stern. They are flammable liquids and an accident could occur with any ember or ash that comes in contact. Therefore, we ask our smoking customers to refrain from doing so while the boat is moving. They may do so, without a problem, in areas indicated by the skipper when the boat is stationary and obviously while on the shore for lunch or strolling along the beaches that we travel to.
