Cala Benirras Ibiza

The gorgeous beach of Cala Benirras is another one of the many gifts that the northern coast offers our catamanan rental in Ibiza. Located between the tips of the cave S’Orenga and Blanca, this deep bay penetrates to the mainland with a slope of minimal incline. Its beach, measuring 160 metres long and 40 metres wide, is petite in size but colossal in beauty.

Due to its extreme protection from the wind, Cala Benirras is a popular anchorage amongst all Ibiza yacht charter and our clients who want to relaxingly admire the spectacular sunsets. On weekends, especially during the summer months, these breathtaking views are accompanied by the echoes of the drums played by the passionate hippies of the island and its appreciative crowd. The International Day of Peace is an event that is celebrated long into the night on this incredible beach.

Although Cala Benirras is located on the north part of the island of Ibiza, it actually faces west. For this simple reason, it is the only beach on the northern coast from which we can experience astonishing sunsets, which of course are that much more enjoyable if we watch it on board our boat hire in Ibiza.

Tips for anchoring in Cala Benirras

After a three hour sail, if we depart from San Antonio, we will arrive at Cala Benirras. The entrance to this bay is narrow, forcing us to reduce the amount of chain we let go of despite the great depth we will be anchoring in. This means, staying alert on those nights with strong winds is a must!

Inside of the bay of Cala Benirras, sandy anchorages of 12 to 6 metres are available. On days when winds are blowing from the west or the northwest, it is highly suggested to take coverage in the neighbouring port of San Miguel.

Queen Victoria and the islet Cap Bernat

Located to the east of the cove of San Miguel, Cala Benirras is unmistakable because of its rock islet, Cap Bernat- a natural monument, 17 metres high, that emerges from the water at the centre of the entrance to the cove. Thanks to depths of 15 metres that surround it, we can circumnavigate this landmark without fear of danger. Some Englishmen, with great imagination during their boat charter in Ibiza, say that the silhouette of this islet is Queen Victoria sitting on her throne.

This rock islet in Cala Benirras, called Cap Bernat, is found at the entrance of the bay and is 17 metres tall.

It is not possible to dock near Cap Bernat, due to its odd shape, and the distance from the beach of Cala Benirras to the islet is quite significant, making it a complicated swim. Still, you will find many people swimming out to climb the rough edges of this weirdly structured rock to take that plunge into the sea.
